Office of Financial Management Receives NACO (National Association of Counties) Achievement Award.

The Johnson County Office of Financial Management is proud to announce that it is a recent recipient of a NACO Achievement Award for its “Revitalized Purchasing Card Program”.

The award recognized the phenomenal growth that Johnson County has experienced in its purchasing card program since 2003. The Office of Financial Management began a concerted effort in that year to transition small dollar purchases from the traditional requisition/purchase order process to the purchasing card. From 2003 through 2006, a multi-step plan was formulated and implemented by Financial Management with the end result being an increase from 14% to 65% in the number of total procurement transactions completed on P-cards rather than purchase orders. A change of this magnitude in the way a government purchasing organization does business represents a significant savings to the entity.

Tom Franzen, Director of Financial Management, was on-hand at the annual NACO conference in Richmond , Virginia in July, for the formal recognition of this award.
