Sick Leave Accrual
> Full-time employees, scheduled for a 40 hour work week, accrue sick leave at a rate of 8 hours per month.
> Part time, benefit eligible employees accrue sick leave at a rate of 4 hours per month.
> Employees scheduled for 24 hour shifts accrue sick leave at a rate of 10 hours per month.
There is no maximum accrual of sick leave. Employees are encouraged to maintain an appropriate sick leave balance in order to assist in protecting their income in the event of an extended illness.
Sick Leave Usage
Employees are eligible to use sick leave after three months of employment.
Johnson County Government employees may use sick leave during times of personal illness, and to attend to personal medical appointments.
Employees may use a maximum of 24 hours of sick leave per calendar year to attend to an ill family member or to attend family member medical appointments.
