Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP)

Johnson County continues to offer in 2010 a CDHP as an additional coverage option, in conjunction with the HMO and PPO plan options, to maximize choices for employees and their families.

The CDHP has two components:
  1. A Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP), which the County's is called BlueSaver, that provide medical and prescription drug coverage with a high deductible ($1,500). Preventative medical services and preventative prescription drugs are not subject to this deductible.

  2. A Health Savings Account (HSA) which enables an employee to have payroll deductions taken on a pre-tax basis, which accumulate in a money-market or investment funds, to receive reimbursements for out-of-pocket medical, drug, dental or vision expenses or to save for retirement and other uses as defined in IRS regulations.
Johnson County provides a match to the employee contributions to the HSA not to exceed $250 for Individual Coverage and $500 for dependent coverage tiers.

To enroll in the CDHP, an employee needs to select the QHDHP and HSA options when entering his/er on-line open enrollment elections.
